Island Lake Lodge in Fernie B.C. has been getting above average snowfalls for the last month. With a base of 220 cms (7 feet), the backcountry ski lodge has decided to open ahead of schedule. The first guest snowcat ran on Saturday, Dec 5th and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by 12 lucky skiers. More day-skiing cats are scheduled to run through the Christmas holidays and into January. “We have been blessed with lots of early snow and the ski season is off to a terrific start” said Steve Kuijit Island Lakes General Manager. “Though our business is primarily multi-day trips, we have added more day trips to this years schedule, in an effort to accommodate time deprived powder hounds” added Kuijit.
Located in Fernie B.C. Island Lake Lodge Catskiing has been an industry leader for 20 years. The magnificent peaks of the B.C. Rocky Mountains tower over 7,000 acres of bowls, valleys and gladed meadows. The luxurious wilderness lodges, fine dining, full service spa and high level of service place Island Lake Lodge in a league of it's own.
